Stunning blue skies, crystal clear glacial waters, lush beech forests, cascading waterfalls and towering mountains... This is truly heaven. A New Zealand heaven to be exact. Welcome to Lake Rotoiti, New Zealand.
Located in the Tasman region of the South Island of New Zealand, lies this beautiful 82 metre deep mountain lake that borders the Nelson Lakes National Park near the small town of Saint Arnaud, an hour or so from Nelson. Lake Rotoiti is like the heart of the top of the south, with the mighty Buller River flowing out to the West.
Lake Rotoiti is a gem in the crown of the South Island and is a popular place for both locals and tourists to visit. Activities include Swimming, Diving, Paddle boarding, Boating, water skiing, tramping and much more!
The heat here is gorgeous in the summer time... but being winter here in New Zealand right now, its snowing and cold.
There is something about this place that is so magical.
Any worries float away with the wind, and you feel so far from anywhere. Its just yourself and nature.
If you ever get the chance to, you absolutely MUST visit this Lake (especially in summer)... But do bring your sunscreen and insect repellent. (Sand flies can be a bit of a pain)
I will write more about Lake Rotoiti in the future so watch this space! :)
Thank you for reading my first post! Hope to have you back soon ;)
Until next time.
Nicole
