Kaiteriteri, Abel Tasman, New Zealand

Kaiteriteri, Tasman, New Zealand

Imagine yourself laying on a beach of golden sand, with dazzling blue water as your view as you sunbathe in the glorious summer sun...

Welcome to kaiteriteri!

Kaiteriteri has been named number 68 on the worlds top 100 best beach list by cnn.com. The famous golden sand and the large amount of sunshine hours attract people to this beach all year round. People from all over the world travel to see this beach and is a particular favourite of the many visiting European travellers. Kaiteriteri also made the top 10 "most loved beach" list by the AA.

This photo (above) I took made it onto the national news (tvnz one) a month or so back, and was taken at the start of winter... So, if this is the winter sunrise in Kaiteriteri, imagine the sunrises in summer! Kaiteriteri has been a favourite place of mine since a young age and continues to be a big part of mine (and other New Zealander's) lives. Kaiteriteri is a popular spot in summer for a camping getaway and is only a quick drive from Nelson for a day trip. The campground is right opposite the beach and camp sites are in hot demand... So, if you are planning to stay here in summer I suggest you book well in advance during winter! :)

Kaiteriteri is known as the gateway to the Abel Tasman - A large national park run by the Department Of Conservation. This area includes activities that include tramping, swimming, boating, fishing, water skiing, camping, snorkeling, paddle boarding and Kayaking. The water taxi is a quick and easy way to discover all the hidden spots dotted around this beautiful part of the Tasman. Abel Tasman Water Taxis regularly transport passengers from Kaiteriteri all the way up to Totaranui in the north of the Park. Another popular choice of transport is also kayaking and lucky for the public they can be hired out to you - as well as paddle boards.

The best time to visit this spot would be between December and February where the average water temperature sits at around 18 degrees Celsius... Perfect for swimming! ... Or falling out of your kayak ;)

I highly recommend you visit this stunning beach and see what the top of the South has to offer!
If you have not been to New Zealand yet, you need to hurry up and book your ticket over here to visit in Summer! Go on! :)

Here are some links to some fantastic businesses in this area that will be more than happy to help make your trip magical!
